Air
Limousine
What has the boom in airline travel done for the high
fliers? Not much really. Frankly, as both airlines and airports
get more crowded, there are many among India's corporate top
bosses who will wish they didn't have to travel with the janta.
And yet, a corporate jet may be too expensive, plus may not
go down well with shareholders |

Own
Your Own Plane
Another Airline? Graon. But this one's different. Because you
will actually own (partially, at least) the aircraft you're
flying in. How? Buying a jet costs the earth : $4-20 million
(Rs 17.6-88 crore), depending on whether it's preowned or brand
new. Then, there's the monthly maintenance bill of Rs 25-40
lakh. |

Club
One Air : Can't own a jet? Split it
IF YOU cannot own your own jet, get a piece of it. That seems
to be the new cost effective mantra of beating serpentine ques
at domestic airports.
Fractional ownership of aircraft is fast catching up in India.
After six industrialists came together to share an aircraft,
Club One Air has started an airline that will specialise in
fractional ownership. Starting with three aircraft, Club One
plans to have a fleet of 30 aircraft by the end of 2006. Each
aircraft will have between four to eight members. |

Now
it's timeshare in the air
CLUB ONE air has announnced commencement of operations with
six Delhi-based 'fractional owners' expected to sign up soon.
The initiative-the first of its kind in Asia - works on a timeshare
concept. Corporates or high net worth individuals can chip in
with a minimum contribution of Rs 2 crore for 100 hours per
annum for 10 years. This entitles them to at least one-eighth
of ownership in a small but opulent aircraft for captive use
as and when they wish to travel in opulence, all by themselves. |

Innovative ideas
We’ve all heard of car pools and Mumbaikars are even familiar with share-cabs, but share-jets? That’s a new concept, at least in India. Internationally, it’s fairly common for a group of businessmen to come together and jointly buy a jet that they take turns to use. |

Now, a time-share for high-flyers
A concept best described as "time share in the air" is what Delhi-based Club One Air offers. The idea is that for less than Rs 4 crore, high networth individuals can own one-sixth of a new jet aircraft, to fly anywhere, anytime. Club One Air's MD, Manav Singh says fractional jet ownership is more that time share. " You own and use an aircraft for a fraction of the cost involved in buying and maintaining a jet". |
